A company is all because of its employees. If the employees work hard and think good for the company, then only the company as a whole succeeds and reaches heights with setting new parameters of success.

Happy, satisfied and motivated employees are always an advantage to the company as they are more productive, more reliable, hard-working and are ready to take up challenges that come their way. Motivated employees motivate others too to do their work in the best possible way with a motivational force driving others and a plethora around them. Companies want motivated and engaging employees only and not unmotivated ones.

But companies do have unmotivated employees who are not a source of energy and don’t contribute anything to the overall development and growth of the company, instead are a burden on the company because the company is not getting anything out of them. It is just that they are there in the company, do their work but their work is not at all of any worth to the company. It is like the company does not see any future in them.

Some of the disasters of having unmotivated employees in the company are:

  1. Negative work culture

People who are demotivated and still there in the company release negative vibes due to which others too don’t get encouraged to work and thus it generates a negative work or corporate culture. It also leads to poor selection of leader, leading to poor performance.

  1. Increased turnover

Increased turnover in the sense that when employees don’t feel motivated, they need to be replaced with more energetic and motivated ones. This whole process of firing the older ones and signing on newer employees increases the turnover of the company. Training them and giving enough time to let them learn things is also an added cost.

  1. Reduction in productivity

Demotivated employees are never interested in doing their work in the best possible way leading to delayed work, poor quality of work generated, complaints from customers or clients and what not.

There are different ways of motivating different people but some general and possible ways of motivating them are:

  1. Rewarding your employees for their good work

Who doesn’t love to be rewarded for a good work. Your employees might be demotivated because they might not be getting rewarded for their work. If they are working for your company and giving their best, then they expect something in return too which will motivate them to work harder. Reward might be a higher pay scale, a family trip or promoting them to a higher position.

  1. Challenge them with their work

Monotonity in work also tends to demotivate employees. Keep challenging their potential and let them learn from whatever they do. This will not only make them work harder over a project and use brain more, but would also bring in more profits to the company.

Thus, start motivating your employees if you think that they are getting demotivated in any sense!
