SWAMI VIVEKANANDA- A MAN WHO SCULPTED HIS LIFE

Swami Vivekananda, the name which gives positivity, inspiration to many youths. He is famous in both India and western countries like America and UK. He was born in Calcutta in January 1863 on the day of Makar Sankranti. At his young age, he is smart and intelligent in studies and showed his interest in music and he also engaged himself in sports, gymnastics, and bodybuilding.

He had vast knowledge on different subjects and pursued Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads and western philosophy. When he was young, he questioned the presence of God and for some time he believed in it. This led him to engage to the Bramho Samaj in which one god with no superstition Hinduism was practised. But the existence of God in mind was unanswered. He questioned many spiritual leaders about the existence of god but he was not satisfied with those answers.

Later on, he met with Sri Ramakrishna and repeated the same question, he answered Yes, I have seen in a deeper sense. Later on, Vivekananda quoted “YOU CANNOT BELIEVE IN GOD UNTIL YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF”. And from Sri Ramakrishna, he also learned many questions arose in his mind. During 1886 he started his travel throughout the country to feel the social and religious aspects of different people and dedicated his life to the people’s growth. On 11 September 1893 in Chicago, he presented the world famous speech with the introduction “My Brothers and Sisters of America” and received standing praise from the people gathered and delivered the speech on spiritual Hinduism across the world. He also travelled to the United Kingdom and many western countries to spread Hindu spiritualism.

Later on, he returned to India in 1897 and started Ramakrishna Mission in which karma and yoga was the main motive and also to help the poor in the country. Vivekananda directed the citizens to reach divine through the deep soul and workship in which one can achieve the freedom. The famous quote is ARISE, AWAKE AND NOT TO STOP UNTIL THE GOAL IS REACHED. Though he lived in a short span of life, his work and teaching will remain motivating even for many centuries to the humans. The famous quote which leads everyone to feel their Aim of life is “you have to grow from the inside out, no one can teach you and none can make you spiritual, there is no other teacher but your own soul”.
