Child Development

This is the stage between birth and puberty. Legally in this stage the child refers to as minor. Minors have few rights than adults. Society treats the minors as a miniature adult. Every child goes under certain social developments at this stage. This is the stage where children are considered to be responsible for their society. Children who attain the age of seven are responsible for their actions. This is the time for the child to know about the general sense and acquiring general knowledge.


This is the stage between the childhood and preceding adolescence. Preadolescence is known as “Teenage”,  “Pre-teen” or “Twee”. The children aging from 9 to 14 years. The predolescents view relationships differently. This is because as they develop Self identity and Independence.

Preadolescent  exposes to-

• Politics and religion

• Sexuality and gender

 • Media – Through media the children of this stage expose to the different cultures.

• Freud -  Freud in this stage is called the latency where the children are intended for sexual feelings. Latency period directs more of their energy for the asexual pursuits.


Adolescence stage is the transitional stage. During this stage the child develops physical and psychological development. To understand thoroughly about the adolescence stage one has to take various perspectives like psychology, history, education, employment, training  and also anthropology. Major physical changes take place in this stage such as sex organs, height, weight, muscle development. Developmental chances may depend on the parents, the school environment and pubertal status.

Role Of Parents In Child Development

According to the experts, children’s development of the psychological and social skills needs support by the parents known as the  “Responsive Parenting”. Different theories and research frameworks analyzed that responsive parenting is nothing but the supporting parents.

Role Of Father In Child Development

As there are developments from generation to generation, ‘Role of Father’ in a family is considered as the ‘Main Provider’ and as the ‘ Disciplinarian’ It is important to realize that father plays an important role in raising and developing their young children in cognitive, social, psychological and also in learning skills.

Analysis On The Father’s Role

In 1960, the movement by women began on family structure and changes occurred in the marital relationship and couple’s earning power, thus resulted in raising the children. In 70’s and 80’s it became a challenging issue in the society that how fathers are Caregivers, and Good Developers of their young children.

The studies by “Pruett Lamb” and many other experts reported that the families with fathers active involvement in both child caring and other family responsibilities showed a tremendous increase in the cognitive competence, self control, understanding capabilities and less gender conventional beliefs.

Increased cognitive competence , has attributed the main involvement of the caregivers an opportunity by learning, communicating and interacting with people with different behavioral styles.Students in Adolescence age need support from their parents because that is the age where there are more and more attractions for the students to deviate from their path. So all parents should realize this and support  their children.
